There are reports out there on one of the golf forums that there are some quality issues involving the new 2018 balls. This includes balls having some rough spots or excess of clear coat/paint. Any of the community members experiencing this?
I didn’t see anything like that on the sleeve I was sent to test. But when the Supersoft was introduced there were issues. They straightened them out pretty quickly though. I imagine they will do the same with these.
If you read thru the thread, @JasonFinley has already responded and taken action to get all issues addressed. While no manufacturer wants to see this, it happens. The industry I’m in the manufacturing process has all the checks and balances in place and most are ISO compliant. But things still happen. Sometimes in my industry we can’t even get to a root cause of the problem.
Yes the last dozen Chrome Soft Truvis ( Yellow & Black ) purchased have ball holding rough spots where it appears the mechanism that holds the ball while painting has left rough spots on the balls in several holding places........wouldn't have expected this from Callaway, but also did not return the balls, just playing them !
I recently bought a dozen of the white 2018 chromesoft and majority of the balls had defects, whether it was pieces of urethane missing or pieces of white paint missing. Last years model didn't have any defects that I saw. I doubt the defects affect much of the performance, but I was disappointed to see a defected ball. Maybe the new manufacturing process has subtle bugs that need to be addressed. Other than that, the ball is fantastic.
