Anyone have any dark finish wedges and does the finish hold up? I like the satin finish because they reduce glare and might consider the dark finish on my next purchase. I would like to know how they hold up against normal wear and tear. I would think your sand iron would blast the finish off over time and you're left with a half dark, half satin finish. Thoughts?
@KennyV The black wedges do wear but they still look awesome when they do. Especially when your wear mark is the size of a nickel. Ive had mine for a long time and they look good. I highly recommend the matte black wedges. Crucially almost , hehe.
I prefer the darker finish wedges, but I guess it's a personal preference. I've got two old forged+ wedges in the vintage finish, and two mack daddy 2 tour grind wedges in the slate finish. Mine have worn down some, but not to the degree of causing me any real concern over the appearance. In fact, I purchased all of these used. I'm not a range rat, and I don't take huge divots either, so these have been fine for me.
I have the md forged in the slate finish. It shows some wear especially if you play in the sandy soil areas like Florida or Arizona. But I prefer that look over the chrome look an I think it helps frame the ball at address too.
I have had the dark finsih wedges in the past, both TItleist and Callaway...currently hae the PXG wedges in chrome. I have to say that the dark finish and even nickel wedges hold up a ton better than the chrome wedges. The wear and tear on the face seems to last a bit longer as well...a bit getting used to in the sand, but in my opinion, worth the switch even if a few extra bucks.
