Yesterday due to weather only five showed up to play. We played a robin with a twosome vs a threesome, changing up partners every 6 holes. Best ball per hole for the team. Total of 3 bets at $1 a bet. The twosome got an invisable partner which was par. We all played full handicaps. This game was made up on the fly and was a little awkward IMHO. I went on line to see what golf games for fivesomes are and the "Wolf" game was always mentioned but it can get a little pricey and our group normally plays for no more than a couple of dollars. What are some games that you played as fivesome ? Before anyone gets in an uproar with a fivesome slowing down play we teed off on #10 and played our second nine on #19 -27 (We have three nine hole courses at our club. Fivesomes are not allowed to tee off #1 tee box before 11 AM.)
We play fivesomes every weekend and we play Wolf. Could get pricey but no one ever loses more than $10. If you lose $15, you really played poorly or just always ended up on the wrong team. We also play left - right or the flip game. Three left tee shots against 2 right tee shots. Flip game - we flip a coin on every hole and all the heads are on a team against the tails. If everyone flips heads it's everyone on their own. If it's 4 to 1 so be it. We play for a few bucks per hole. I haven't found a good game for 5.
We just play a modified stableford.
4 pts =par
7 pts = birdie + $2
1 pt = Bogey
-1 pt = D bogey
-2 pts = triples or more
12 pts= eagle +$5
1$ sandies and greenies
total your points and pay difference pts can be whatever value you want. We play .50/pt
The more I think about it, in the future I might suggest we just play golf either adjusting strokes to the player who has the lowest handicap or every body playing full handicap. I don't know which scenerio is better. The players handicap in the above game were 9, 10, 13, 15 and 15.
