Since we are getting another 12-18” today in Mass I’m doing everything I can to look forward to my Buddies trip in April to Tampa.
We’re staying and playing at World Woods and also hitting Southern Hills Plantation on the way there form the airport. Anyone play Southern Hills before?
I’ve been to WW before and love that place, but looking to mix it up on our last day. Any recommendations for another course in the area?
I've not played Southern Hills, but a little further north of WW is El Campe'on at the Mission Hills Resort. Played a tournament there in December. Beautiful with elevation changes. Black Diamond is a spectacular quarry course if you can get on. If you are in the Tampa Bay area, the Island or Copperhead (last weekends Valspar tournament) courses at Innisbrook are great. TPC Tampa is also a favorite of mine. There are numerous courses in the central Florida area that are superb, but choose carefully, the prices vary greatly.
@DerekR Ask the people at the Hotel/ resort your staying at they have connections an know all the areas best courses. I travel to Portland an was able to get on Pumkin ridge golf club, played Ghost creek an Witch Hollow for hardley anything last summer just by going through the hotel concierge just a idea.
@MarkMPlayed TPC last time and the course was in rough shape. I’d love to do copperhead but it’s currently $325 a rounds. Yikes!!
World Woods is $90 for 36 holes or absolutely fantastic golf.
Havent played Diamond, but I hear it’s stay and play only. Is that correct?
@Jeremy1313 We are staying at World Woods. If you stay there it is dirt cheap. $200 a night for 4 bed and only $90 day for 36. The place is amazing if you haven’t been.
Def not a resort or hotel. Villa style. I wonder if maybe someone in the pro shop has a hookup.
Super glad to here about WW actually going there in a few weeks because the desginer also designed my home course and I love it. Glad to hear this one is awesome. 36 holes for 90 bucks is a steal is that regular price or some sort of deal? Im going with my wife. Do you know if you are able to play as just a twosome or is there mandatory pairing?
@briananderson6 The $90 price is extended if you stay in their villas which is also a great deal.
This is is my 3rd trip and I’ve played as a single, twosome, threesome, and foursome. No issue with either. You’re gonna love those courses.
Wow. I did not realize Copperhead was that much now. I usually receive emails throughout the year for customer appreciation and pay between $55-$75. As for Black Diamond, I have only made the trip when a friend sets up outings. I don't know the particulars regarding stay/play. It is the best course IMHO that I have played in Florida.
Let me know if you get one of those email @MarkM! We’ll be there the second week of April and would love the play Copperhead if it’s not insanely priced.
The fact that its $125 more than Streamsong is a joke. No way it’s as good as those.
