This is great, in a sick kind of way LOL. Any tips you care to share regarding the sandies (particularly the "not" good lies)? That's the absolute worst part of my game and the part where,
if when I'm in the greenside with a half pugged ball and no green to work with; I just give up and use my bunker driver (the 9 iron). . I attempt to work on it, but frustration sets in.
@HeathO78 I open my face a little bit. Then I stare down a grain of sand behind my ball, about a half inch behind it. Then I make a 3/4 swing and not turning on the gas until right before contact. Dont be affraid of swinging hard/fast. Good luck
@HeathO78 My favorite club for sandies is my 54* by the way.....Open the face and stand open a little too. Ive gotten a lot better since my 20 ball workout began. The more i open my face the shorter the ball goes , the more i close the face the longer it goes. Getting good out of the bunker helps your other shots because you dont try so hard to avoid them. Hope this helps you out. There are some low handicappers around here that may be able to expand on this subject too. Best thing to do though is practice , practice , practice !!
Thanks Rick. I really only have issues with plugged balls. I try to carry the face a bit to closed and don't end up getting under it quick enough. The result is usually a semi-skulled shot that if it makes it over the lip I pray for a backstop. I'll open it up and close my eyes instead per suggestion. I have a mental block with opening the face under a plugged ball even though I know it's the right thing to do. I carry a 56* specifically as my SW..so we aren't too far off. I'll plug a few this weekend and open the face until I'm comfy with it. Thanks.
@HeathO78 Cool , I hope you get it down pat !! This is great , talking about playing golf is a lot of fun. Equipment is great but talking about playing golf will get us playing better. Keep me posted , Im always interested in performance !!
