Today wasn't as nice as the weatherman predicted, I got out early to beat the masses.......
About the time I finished 9 it was getting warm enough to start, but I was done after 9, working midnights.
5 of 7 fairways(the 2 missed were just off)
2 of 4 up and down
0 of 1 sand saves(which turned into a double, hit way over the green pitched back and 2 putted)
+5, 3 pars, 1 birdie, 1 double, 4 bogey
The greens are wet and soft, my 3-1putts were holes 7,8,and 9, finally figured out to pitch it closer
Both par 5's pitching for gir, yes playing the way up front winter tees.
Hope tomorrow will be closer to what the weatherman says.
Weatherman was right about today. Score was better than I was playing. The greens had dried out.......sorta Hole 1 I putted past the hole, hole 2 putted way past the hole, hole 3 I didn't make it half way to the hole
2 of 7 up and downs
Luck helped occassionally, first time in my life the flag stick saved me, changed a probable double into a par.
No golf tomorrow, my new wedges should be getting here, sure wife will be wanting us to do something christmasie + its going to rain and be cold
Thursday its back up to 50's......then they're calling for a week+ of winter.
Weatherman was wrong about Wednesday, no rain and plenty warm enough for golf........
So we went off for 9 and stayed for 18
My mind and body weren't ready for it.
My new wedges came in as I was leaving for the course
Off the tee I was leaking off to the right all day, irons were short, wedges were pitiful, and putter.....the putter....arrgh
Hole 18 was a training film, long and straight down the middle off the tee, best swung iron all day to about 3 ft past the hole, easy birdie putt.
Wasn't keeping a score today, but it wasn't good.
I came home and re-evaluated wedge play, the cg15 62* that I know longer use worked best playing in the middle of stance, the new wedges are all cg15, the 50/10 is also a cg15.
A little working with the wedges I found best contact being middle of stance with an open stance.
Get off in the morning, take a little nap, we're planning on starting at noon, so I'll get out a little early for some wedge practice.
I'll be using the 50,54,58
Well, it was more fun than good. 41/45 86
3 of 9 up and down for par
A triple, 3 doubles, 1 birdie, 6 bogeys, 7 pars
The greens were extremely soggy, made putting hard (3-3 putts).
In the beginning the course was alright for walking around on, as it got warmer it got soggier.
I was getting ready to go out and had a fall, knee, hip, elbow, and ribs. Laid there for a minute, then took a minute to get up.........On the way down I made sure not to hit on my messed up shoulder. That'l learn me to try and carry a cart on a wet pine ramp while wearing golf shoes.
Back before I quit playing I used a 60* and a PW, the X20 PW is 45* so I hadn't tried that......today I did, I carried the 54 but didn't use it, I used the PW when outside comfort zone with the 60. The first shot with the X20 PW I wasn't happy with but after that I was happy with every shot. So I'll carry a 54 or 56 as my sand club but use 58 or 60 and PW for non sand shots. I was really surprised at how well that 45 works as a wedge.
Tomorrow they're calling for warmer than today, but a little chance of rain. I can probably get out before work.
0 of 5 fairways, close just not in
1 of 7 greens and that 1 was a 2 putt
3 of 6 up and down for par.....2 tap ins, 1 miracle putt
3 over after 7
Rain started on 6, made it thru 7, tried to tee on 8 and couldn't hold on to the club. Walked in, put clubs in the cab, changed shoes and before I got out of the parking lot the sun was shining.
