I was fortunate enough to take a trip to Augusta for the Friday, Saturday, and Sunday action. Give a listen to yesterday's ShipShow, I was the guest and got to tell a few stories but certainly not everything about the experience. Ask me anything!
Different strategies for each day. It's actually pretty tough to follow a single group due to crowds, layout, and the way they funnel crowds via walkways
Fri - spend a lot of time by 6 green in the morning. A lot of time by 7 green in the afternoon
Sat - lots of time at in the stands by 13 green/14 tee. (Saw Rory standing in the bushes in the rain; amazing!) Then stood on the hill next to 16 with a great view of that green and good enough view of 15 green to see Reed chip in for eagle
Sun - bounced around a lot...2 green for several groups (watched Rory miss his short eagle putt and watching Bubba putt the ball into the bunker!). Then moved to 10 green for a bit. Then 11 & 12, which are surprisingly tough spots because you are so far from the green. Then the real action happened when we watched the last several groups come through 15 green from the stands under the scoreboard there. That was awesome. After the last group came through we ran up to 17 fairway to see Rickie's then Reed's approaches and action on the green. Muscled our way to the back of 18 tee box after Reed teed off, in anticipation of a playoff. But alas...
@EthanatorCG which hole did you camp out on? Or did you follow anyone specifically?
