@ShaneH Welcome to the game. Watch out!! It is addictive. I'm a lefty and play the MackDaddy PM Grind wedges; 56, 60 & 64. Been playing 54 years. I love my PM Grind wedges. For a beginner, I would recommend trying the 56 first. It comes with 14 degrees of bounce. I also recommend to all beginners to get a copy of Ben Hogan's 'Five Lessons The Modern Fundamentals of Golf' and Phil Mickelson's 2 DVD set 'Secrets of the Short Game'. Both are great instruction and clear. Phil's set is also very entertaining as there is quite a bit of content demonstrating him in competition. Good luck. Take the good breaks as you will also get plenty of bad ones.
@ShaneH- what irons do you have? You might be better off starting with "set wedges" - meaning the wedges that you can sometimes buy with or in addition to a set of irons, such as a gap or approach wedge and a sand wedge. These may provide better forgiveness.
