Recently I tested the new Rouge Sub Zero Driver. Callaway sent me the club to test for the purposes of writing a review for the Callaway Community.
Rouge Sub Zero Driver
Small bucket of balls on driving range. 9 Holes of on course play. Weather: Mild conditions temp 50 degrees F Course Conditions: Cold weather with lift clean and place rules.
Driver Swing Speed:
Club Characteristics (1=Very poor, 10=Outstanding)
|Easy and Effective Adjustability||10/10|
Aesthetics promotes confidence. Misses are controlled not wild. Sweet spot provides extra distance.
Performance OFF THE TEE (1=Very poor, 10=Outstanding)
|DISTANCE vs.current driver||8/10|
|FORGIVENESS vs.current driver||9/10|
|CONTROL vs. current driver||9/10|
|LAUNCH CHARACTERISTICS vs. current driver||8/10|
Must hit sweet spot to take advantage of distance. Forgiveness is decent but not as good as my current driver. Launch characteristics not as consistent.
OPTI-FIT Hosel Settings tried:
I maintained delivered setting as they matched my current driver, neutral.
SUB ZERO Driver weight configuration used to optimize trajectory:
Delivered weight configuration 14 aft and 2 fwd.
Aesthetics awesome. Sweet spot equals great distance. Great adjustability. Decent forgiveness
Sound takes getting use to. Inconsistent off the tee. No wow factor!
Summary of My Experience with the Club
Excellent club overall, maybe requires more rounds to get use to.
