Some great stuff here! Thanks.
What's killing me most is I have plenty of computers (I'm in IT) and have a projector but my ceiling height is too low to swing. Wife would never approve moving everything upstairs so it's outside for the net.
In cases such as this I revert back to "what would Homer Do ? "
Ok so you can not clear out the lower level . What about clearing out
the upper level for your Health reasons ??? Go to a Doctor who is
an avid golfer and have him or her write a script fo you .
It should state how this will not only improve your health but
also your marriage . If that does not work ,what about the garage ?
As a former real estate agent for 28 yrs I am sorry I did not take
photos of all the Man caves in living /dining or family rms I came
across . I have seen A putting green in the dining room . The wildest
A couple guys were tearing down an engine in the Living rm !!!
Bet she wished her husband was a golfer !
Garage is also too low. Plus it has all my woodworking tools in there. 2 car garage with table saws, band saw, cabinets, CNC machine etc. She keeps wishing i could get it all on 1 side so she could put her car in there.
So I'm ok with the net outside for now.
If I was to have a net to hit into for practice, it would have to have some sort of visual feedback so I would have some idea of how the ball was hit. The Net Return looks like a great idea.
If we can find the right piece of land to build on, I'm gonna have a building to hit out of. Large tall door so I can hit on crappy days. Maybe a place to putt on the other side.
That Net Return is a good net for seeing what you are doing... It is tight enough net to see if the ball spins back to your left the ball would be fading or slicing if it spins back to the right it would be drawing or hooking... I like to use impact tape on the face of the club and the sound off the face to tell if I made good contact... For me the sound is the best indicater of good contact. For me it is the easiest way to tell if i'm getting good compression. When I'm hitting it well and getting good compression i don't even feel the ball off the face and it sounds like bacon sizzleing in a pan for shorter shots it is a crisp clicking sound.
I've been using foot power instead of the impact tape. Works just as well and is easy to clean off.
Been a real eye opener for me. I had a toe problem that might have turned out to be incorrect lie. I adjusted them +2* and what a difference. Can't belive i was hitting and getting frustrated for so many years with that!
Too many little variables in this game.
I'm going to give everyone's ideas a try today with the net.
If you are going with the outside net consider the 10 x 10 x 10 cage net.
It is not a put and take down kinda net but one made with UV protection can last years outside. Then as Rick mentioned,
build up a car port type structure next to it and use your IT skill to make it into an outdoor theater (also of course)
