Ok, so I started off the year just ok. Main goal was to eliminate the focus problems that lead to Doubles or worse. Spent so much time on that then some bad habits crept into my swing. Have spent the last few weeks working on that and think I’ve found something. Ball striking has improved greatly. Especially on approach shots. GIR have dramatically increased. This has been consistent now for the last 4 rounds. Don’t want to jinx myself, but it seems to be working. We’ll see how long I can keep this move and single swing thought before it inevitably will disappear. I love/hate this game!
@ChuckH Golf is such an interesting puzzle. For me, all the areas of the game never seem to click together during a round. You fix something to find the other aspect broken.
It reminds me of programming, you fix an error to find that it breaks another part of the software.
@ChuckH-- that's all we call can hope for -- identify the problem and work to correct it. I always have to keep that voice in my head to make sure I do not come outside-in on my swing. I have to keep repeating "throw the club at the target" to keep my swing on the right path.
That's why it's called GOLF...all the other 4 letter words were taken.
@PC98 Maybe we should start calling it “G$#F” we all might improve. 🤪
@BradCe594 Your right sometimes I get the 404 error in my head.
@BradCe594 Index was outside the bounds of the array.
I see that error everyday in my job!
Seems we all suffer from the same curse. I am with @PC98 on the four letter factor. I have a vast array of words for this game. The day everything clicks I am giving it up, and ticking the conquer box.
Doubt it would be anything to look forward to in the near future
Yep... I'm still a beginner so I know I have a lot more frustration and cuss words ahead. Normally when I hit into my net in my backyard, I do pretty well most days. But I have been looking into increasing my swing speed so that I can use my 7 iron to get on the green on a 156 yd P3. I can do it with my 5, but technically I think I should be able to do it with a 7. So I started working on hinging my wrists more into an L on my takeaway/backswing the last couple of days, and then couldn't hit the ball worth a crap! Obviously I was thinking too much, but even when I tried to relax and just go back ot my normal swing, I would still top the ball, or even chunk the dirt about 6 inches before the ball! I'm sure I'll get it all worked out eventually, but came so close to slamming my club to the ground, but would stop myself and walk around in frustration before I'd do it all over again.
I have used swing thoughts from day one and there have been a lot of them. I have found if you have more than one or two they become counter productuve. Some of my best rounds have occured when I had no swing thoughts. The one thought that I am currently using is, " Finish your backswing." That thought works on every club in the bag........for now.
