Looking to the community to give me a little assistanvce with a XR16 driver shaft change. I have a SS = 93-95. I have a Project X ZL 50 Blue regular shaft from my XR (2015) driver in the newer XR16 head. My backspin rate is 3K. Ball ballons up and falls out of the sky aounnd 220, with little roll.
10.5 degree head, moved to 9.5 with a draw bias.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. If there is anything on CallawayPreOwned, please let me know. Thanks in advanced
first off you need to get your spin rate down to 2200 to 2300 . Find out who your Callaway area rep is and see if he or she can get you on trackman and with the large number of shafts they can fit you for you can find out what works best, then either look on callaway pre own shaft site or have him order one for you.
The next option is to find a very good fitter who has a large option of shafts to work with you on. Its hard to advise you on a shaft with out seeing your launch numbers ie smash factor, launch angles etc.
I believe in super low torque numbers. My torque is 2.5 on my Motore Speeder OLD AS DIRT shaft. Every shaft i try with what they call medium / low torque doesnt work. Good luck with it....I vote low torque , like 2.5 or 3. Nothing in the 5's for sure.
If you don't mind to use slightly heavier shaft, there are lots of good choices in the 60g class. The Kuro Kage Silver Tini and Fujikura Evolution 665 TS are good choices (Mid Launch / Low-Mid Spin). If you want even lower spin, you can try Aldila Rogue I/O. All these shafts can be bought from CPO for about $80 with Optifit adapter, ready to be played.
That's the problem with most all fitters.... They do not have enough shafts to try out. I have 3 shafts for my Epic driver and all work in a different way. Without Callaway's assistance there are not many dealers that handle the needed variety of shafts to do an "Epic" fitting <g>.
SPin comes from a variety of issues such as Angle of attack, loft and where you hit it on the face. to name a few.
Then we need to consider the type of player you are, such as aggressive, smooth etc.
once all of that is take into account then a proper shaft can be selected.
however if the shaft is the only thing left and you like the current shaft. Get the S flex of the current model
