@RickM- Yep, I can't wait to see the headquarters, plus getting fitted for a putter there. Can't get any better than that for sure. I'll take pics of what they allow me to but I may break the community site with everything to tell and photos to show. Plus I am really looking to get a new putter, a very special one fitted just for me and will help me line up my putts better than i do now, which isn't bad now but i am ready to take it to the next level for sure.
@DudleyCA- Like you it took me a while to figure it out. The old saying drive for show and putt for dough, but i never got to point of thinking about a fitting till this last year (seems that this year has been the year for revelations) after fitting for irons, then my woods, it only made since to do the putter. You can save a score on a lot of holes with a great putt, so why not have a putter fitted to you to help you make that swing down the line constantly so that you get the ball tothe hole.
@ErikFb4da- so after my fitting- OH MY- Amy was awesome! BIG SHOUT OUT TO AMY ! She did the fitting. So she checked my swing, actually pretty good back and forward. Tried several putters. My putting style I need a mallet type so as it turns out the Indy is perfect for me. The balanced face, the alignment line on top helped me. The feel and sound was great. Amy checked angle of swing both fore and aft, in and out, contact with the face and ball and in my case my hands are too far back and so the club will have HALF A DEGREE less loft to help me get it rolling instead of skidding. So now do I buy one now or wait for the Customs option to come up and then have it tweaked a little more in the looks ( I have a few ideas but don't know what options will be available then, and AMY couldn't tell me yet either, sounds like it is still in the works and not set in stone yet. But there will be an INDY in my bag eventually, hopefully sooner than later!
@GeneMf961Great to hear that you had an awesome experience there!! Post pics if you have any. Tweaking the putter should be fun to do so waiting on a custom order may be the way to go.
call Callaway right now to order an Erin Hills coin!! The online system is messed up. Better hurry cause there are only a few left!!
@ErikFb4da- So I posted some pics of the custom wedge bench in the general area. You have to remember that some of the stuff going on is the R&D and not for public release so I respected that and kept pics to a min. Plus two of the pics I had, the site wouldn't let me post because they were too big. Kind of like my experience- EPIC! Sorry, I couldn't resist. LOL When I get my putter, I promise to post pics of it.
@ErikFb4da- I have to tell you, I know that you have been thinking about a fitting for the putter, DO IT! The first thing is I ended up with a slightly shorter putter, which helped to get my eyes over the ball, that's 1. I was able to see my swing back to front and saw the angles I was swinging at. That's 2. The machine showed my face alignment at address and at impact, 3 and 4. It showed that with my hand placement I had a little skidding happening first, so .5 loft change to improve getting my ball rolling quicker, 5. Then, after seeing all of that I now know that I will have a piece of equipment that will help correct a lot of my issues and then it will help to give me that magic that you need when putting - confidence- that's 6! So a half dozen reasons to get a fitting!
Just my recommendation! My saying now- Roll'em true!
@GeneMf961Thanks for the insight and advice on your experience! My wife and I were talking about going to San Diego one day soon and guess what is 45 min away? Callaway HQ!! Don't think that's not on my mind right now especially with a fitting. Looking at early next year for a trip.
@ErikFb4da- So I could NOT wait any longer and it sounds as though the customs for putters is delayed so I pulled the trigger on the INDY.
By all means if you get to the San Diego area, Carlsbad is just up the coast a little and while the building is relatively small for a business of their size but it is very high tech and since this location is really only about tour pro support, and the their marketing, Podcasts and other show events there, they don't need a lot of room. The building is truly amazing for the stuff they are doing. Making new prototype stuff there, and now the customs, and their fitting abilities for everything.. It is an experience that I recommend for all of the Callaway Forum peoeple to see, plus like I did, you should get fitted for a putter, or a new club if you need one.
