I'm currently playing the XR 16 driver with the stock Speeder 565 stiff shaft. I'm thinking of upgrading to the new Epic driver, which comes with a stock Project X Hzrdus shaft. How do these two shafts compare or contrast in performance and feel? How would the Epic play with the Speeder shaft installed?
I would highly recommend a fitting so you can get the appropriate feedback. I got my Epic with the Aldila Rogue S shaft because it gave me better results than the HZRDUS shaft. I'm not sure how the Speeder would play but you should be able to try out all different types at a fitting. Good luck!
I put the white 565 from the V-series BB in my Epic. It is as good if not better than the HZRDUS to me. But im not elite off the tee either , haha. Its worth a try , if you dont like it you can undo it. Opti-fit is cool like that. Hit Em Good !!
Shafts have about 1% outcome in fitting. The right shaft for you is the one that you like that feel of the best. Shaft flex is 1-3 of distance on average where proper loft and launch setting can result in 6-10 yards.
As others have said, test them out on the range and get fitted. I've been attempting to attend a Demo Day (the reps either cancel it before it happens or they cut them short) to see how the shafts perform in the real world before purchasing. In a launch monitor, the numbers seem to change with every monitor I use at every store. It's incredibly frustrating. However, the Project X Hzrdus and the Aldila Rogue Max seem to perform better than the Fujikura - that's as far as stock shafts go.
